Lithuania

In 2023, the Lithuanian Red Cross launched a program to help people with disabilities. With AccessRC they were able to:

  • Reduced administration-focused staffing by more than 98%. This increased efficiency and allowed the society to redeploy staff and volunteers to activities that required a human touch.

  • Reached people living nearly 200 km away from the nearest Red Cross office. People with disabilities could apply from their own home.

  • Cut application processing time from 22 hours to 2 minutes, getting help to people more quickly.

Bulgaria

In 2022, the Bulgarian Red Cross disaster management department used AccessRC to provide emergency cash to Ukrainian refugees in the country. Since then, the national society has successfully completed multiple cash programs. Usage of AccessRC expanded into the Refugee Services department. With AccessRC, the Bulgarian Red Cross was able to natively offer programs in Farsi and Arabic.

To date, the Bulgarian Red Cross has provided 4.6 million CHF in assistance using AccessRC helping over 69,000 individuals with cash and other services such as food & hygiene parcels.

Colombia

In 2023, the Colombian Red Cross launched a cash program to help Venezuelan migrants in Soacha municipality.

Users reported that they felt safer and more dignified accessing aid at home via AccessRC.

Even users without their own mobile phones were able to apply for aid with help from family and friends. They felt more comfortable using the app with the guidance of more tech-savvy family members and were able to get the aid they needed.

In 2024, the Colombian Red Cross expanded use of AccessRC to support Colombians impacted by weather events from El Niño.

Romania

The Romanian Red Cross was the first Red Cross Society to use AccessRC for the Ukraine and Impacted Countries Operation. The mobile app allowed mothers to apply for assistance in the evenings after putting their children to bed. Traditional registration centers don’t offer flexible hours and locations that accommodate for the needs and schedules of those in need.

In addition, AccessRC’s simplicity made it easy to learn and explain to neighbors and community members. Ukrainian refugees quickly became volunteers to give back to their communities. They formed the core team of volunteers helping Ukrainians all over Romania. For three years, the Romanian Red Cross has been using AccessRC to provide cash assistance to Ukrainians all over the country. The Romanian Red Cross has distributed over $28 million USD (26 million CHF) to Ukrainians in the country.

Here are their stories.

“I think it’s our mission to help my people. It’s not important where I live, Ukraine or Romania or maybe I will live in another country, I have a role to play. If I have a chance to help my people, I will every time do this.”

-Svitlana Rostetska

How do I feel? I am not confident in tomorrow. I don’t know what will be tomorrow.

We had a full understanding of our life. We had jobs. We had a house. We had an understanding of our studying … now we have nothing.

I wanted to do something for the Ukrainian people and for Romanians.

[Through volunteering] I have stopped checking the news 24/7, and I have stopped worrying. I feel very happy that I can help and that I am close to such amazing an organization as Red Cross.
